Communication
features provide MORE than the ability to send e-mails,
pictures, appointment dates and messages to your loved one. The
screen can also display weather, latest news headlines and a
personal calendar. More importantly, a unique cognitive
assessment is achieved through simple games, brain teasers and
questions, stimulating the brain.
Safety is
maintained with various wireless, discreet sensors. Motion is
monitored and alerts can be sent to caregivers if unusual
activity is detected (i.e. no motion in the bedroom by 9 a.m.)
Lights can be turned on automatically in the night if motion is
detected from the bed.
Wellness is
preserved by monitoring blood pressure, weight and glucose,
again sending an alert if readings are out of a set range. Care
notes can be recorded by a visiting caregiver for access by
family members or other authorized caregivers.
Caregivers and family
can log onto the Website from anywhere in the world to ensure
all is well in the loved one’s home.

Exterior Door Openers
“How
can I handle those heavy outside doors?” Exterior doors,
including the service door from the garage, are sometimes hard to push open, and some do not stay that way to
accommodate passage through with crutches, wheelchair or walker. Just getting groceries through if you are
limber is a challenge! One device can handle opening the door
with a touch of a button and keeping it open until you’re ready for it to close.

Unlocking Doors
It’s difficult for many
people needing assistance to get to the door to let a caregiver
in. Doors can be unlocked remotely from anywhere inside the
home. When adding a security camera to the front door, you can
get a visual of who is there before you let them in!

Lighting, Climate
Control & Security
Getting
around the house to turn lights on and off can be a hassle
with limited mobility. A simple automatic setting for Day and
Night turns the job over either an automatic program or one button.
More detailed lighting settings are possible also, with certain
lights remaining on for a certain amount of time after the Night
setting is activated (possibly the bedroom until you’re ready
for bed). Lights can automatically turn on if you get up in the
middle of the night.
Temperature can be monitored within the house as well as remotely
and can be controlled from a portable device that can be right
at your fingertips. For example, if you wake up in the middle
of the night and need to adjust the temperature, it’s right there
next to you! What about loved ones and caregivers away from the
house? They can be alerted if the temperature is out of range
for some reason, check the temperature and change it….even
for someone thousands of miles away.
The
feeling of being secure in the home is number one. The security
system can be controlled as you do your lighting and
climate….at your fingertips. With an addition of an affordable small
camera outside your front door, you can see who is at the door
immediately. With an interior locking device, you can even unlock
the door from anywhere in the home.

Bed Sensors
Help to prevent trips
and falls with discreet bed sensors turning on lights when you leave
the bed.
Complete Systems
to Monitor your Home Activities
Complete systems are available that
will monitor activities in your home such as daily living (movement
throughout the home) and wellness (e.g. keeping track of blood pressure,
glucose, weight) One such system consists of a central unit , which is very similar to a TiVo box, connected to a TV or monitor, and a source of
Internet, either wired or wireless. The system will then provide a
continuous display of news, weather, pictures, a daily calendar, email,
reminders etc. to your TV. At the same time, the unit communicates with wide
range of wireless
sensors, which monitor activities of daily living and
wellness.
The system can then be accessed via the
Internet by remote family or professional caregivers to assess your
wellness and safety. The system can be instructed to send an email,
text message, or phone call to the caregivers if something is unusual.
Let’s say the person gets up from bed in the middle of the night to use the
bathroom but they don’t make it to the bathroom, or any other room. Even
without a fall sensor being worn, the system can notify someone that
conditions are such that the person should be checked in on. The caregivers
can also use the web interface to send pictures, email, reminders and
calendar items to the loved one's TV.
